Global Exchange Featuring Italy
Carlo Faletti (left), president of the Italian Society of Medical Radiology
(SIRM) and ARRS Honorary Member, and Charles E. Kahn Jr.
ARRS and SIRM leaders meet as part of the Global Exchange featuring Italy.
Leaders from ARRS and SIRM met during the annual meeting for
a fervent discussion on radiology issues in the United States and Italy.
From comparing and contrasting best practices to patient interactions
to physician referrals to fees and payment, the participants identified
ways in which they would continue sharing insight and information
throughout the year in an effort to better their practice and quality of
care. Look for a feature article on this exchange in the fall issue of
InPractice, written by Alice Ha, 2013 Melvin M. Figley Fellow in Radiology Journalism.
An Evening with Young Professionals
Radiology residents exchanged training stories, connected with
new colleagues and friends, and met with leaders of ARRS—
most notably, the newly inducted president Norman
Beauchamp—at the annual Residents’ Reception. “This was a
great opportunity for me because I was able to ask residents
what they are experiencing and what they are looking to
achieve,” reflects Dr. Beauchamp. “We talked about embracing
the value of stewardship and leadership and how they can bring
greater value to their current positions.”
ARRS 2013 ANNUAL MEETING WRAP UP
Senior Radiologists Gather
The Senior Radiologists Section (SRS) at ARRS is a growing
group of dedicated radiologists who are partially or fully retired
and continue to stay in touch with colleagues and friends they’ve
made during their career. SRS currently has 142 members, and
about 35 people (members and spouses) enjoyed an evening
reception at the annual meeting, which was hosted by current
SRS chair Bruce L. McClennan, professor emeritus of diagnostic radiology at the Yale School of Medicine, New Haven, CT,
and a past president of ARRS (2005–06). Dr. McClennan spearheads SRS Notes, a quarterly newsletter exclusively for SRS
members, containing member profiles, opinion pieces, and retrospectives.
